Speed limiter off on a track car: the ceiling, not a Stage 1

A factory speed ceiling is a number the ECU protects. Raising it on a circuit car is an option file. It is not extra torque and it is not a street pass.

Plenty of cars stop pulling at a number the brochure never shouted. Common on BMW, Mercedes and Audi — the BMW tuning file service, Mercedes-Benz tuning file service and Audi tuning file service pages cover limiter-off as a separate line. 250. 210. A van that feels embarrassed above 160. That is a limiter, not a tired turbo. On a circuit or a closed test the workshop wants the ceiling gone or moved. That is a line on the ticket: limiter off, or limiter to X. It is not Stage 1 in different clothes.

The file does not invent tyres, brakes or a licence. A car that will now see 270 on a long straight still has the same pads you left in this morning. Write the use. Track day. Hill climb. Not a hint that the ring road got faster.

Some families hide the ceiling next to gearbox logic. A DSG that already protects a torque number may also protect a speed number. If you want both the engine map and the limiter moved, say so and attach the TCU read when the box is part of the story. We do not guess a DQ381 from an engine dump.

Name the car like a person. The year matters. A 2014 ceiling is not a 2022 ceiling on the same badge. If the tool spat two files, send both. Circuit and motorsport only. Raising a limiter is not homologation for the public road.
