Start-stop off in a remap file: a comfort line, not a power stage

Killing start-stop in the file stops the engine cutting in a queue. It does not add torque. Write it as its own line next to Stage 1 if you want both.

Reviewed by the lab desk before it went live. We write files; we do not rubber-stamp brochure numbers.

Start-stop is the system that kills the engine at the lights and brings it back when the clutch or the brake tells it to. Workshops hate it on cars that sit in a paddock queue, or on a customer who is tired of the shudder. The file can leave the function off so the button fight stops. That is the whole job.

It is not a remap of the turbo. People bundle it into Stage 1 as if comfort options were horsepower. They are not. If you want Stage 1 and start-stop off, write both. One dump. Two lines. Credits follow the menu, not a poem in the notes.

Some cars also hide the function behind a battery sensor or a gateway story. If the button already does nothing because the battery is dying, fixing the battery is cheaper than a file. Scan first. Put the codes on the ticket. Then we know whether we are writing a comfort bit or chasing a voltage drop.

Circuit and motorsport framing still applies on this desk: we do not homologate a street conversion. A start-stop-off line on a track-day car is a comfort request next to the map. Keep the original dump. The next owner may want the stop-start theatre back.
