Does chiptuning damage the engine?

A careful Stage 1 on a healthy engine is a software change, not a death sentence. A wild file on a tired car is a different story.

Reviewed by the lab desk before it went live. We write files; we do not rubber-stamp brochure numbers.

Short answer: it can, if the file is greedy or the car is already tired. A Stage 1 written for stock hardware stays inside what the turbo and the gearbox see every day on a motorway slip road. That is the point of doing it from a real dump, not from a ‘+40%’ sticker.

What actually breaks cars is the combination of old oil, a slipping clutch, a DPF that was already blocking, and a map that asks for boost the hardware cannot hold. We see that when someone flashes a Stage 2 file because it was cheaper on a forum.

Before you order: service the car. If it is a dual-mass flywheel that already rattles, extra torque will finish the conversation. If it is a high-mileage N47, say so in the notes — we would rather keep the map calm than chase a number.

After the flash: use the car. Do not sit at 4.000 rpm in second gear to ‘bed in’ a remap. That is not a thing. Drive it like you meant to use the extra torque, not to prove a point on the first night.

We write files for circuit and motorsport. That legal line is also a practical one: if a part is worn, the track will find it. Tell us the truth on the ticket. A honest brief is cheaper than a new turbo.
