How long does a Stage 1 remap take from a file desk
Same-day Stage 1 is normal when the dump is complete and the hardware list is honest. A restricted Drive link turns that into Thursday.
Reviewed by the lab desk before it went live. We write files; we do not rubber-stamp brochure numbers.
Workshops ask the clock question before they ask the horsepower one. Fair. A customer is sitting in reception, or the car is blocking a ramp. The honest answer on this desk is: most stock Stage 1 jobs leave the same working day if the ticket is complete. That is not a slogan. It is what the queue looks like when the read is a real dump and the notes say diesel, DSG, stock exhaust.
The file itself is not a three-hour ritual. The wait is everything around it. A 200 kb snippet that should have been four megabytes. A Drive link set to restricted. No year. A ticket that says same as last week with no job number. That is how a Monday Stage 1 becomes a Wednesday apology.
What same-day assumes: factory intake, factory exhaust, factory turbo, a full ECU read on Dropbox, Drive or MEGA, and a file name a person can open. BMW_320d_2018_EDC17.bin is a brief. final_FINAL3.bin is a shrug. If the car already has a downpipe, do not order Stage 1 and hope. Say so and pick Stage 2, or ask in the job chat before the engineer writes boost the hardware cannot swallow.
Custom Stage 3 is a different clock. That is a conversation, not a slot in the afternoon list. TCU files ride with the engine job when you attach the gearbox read. A DQ250 is not a DQ381. Missing the box code does not add drama. It adds a day.
Time zones matter more than people admit. A dump that lands at 18:40 on a Friday is not the same request as one that lands at 09:10 on a Tuesday. We work the ticket in front of us. We do not invent a night shift because reception promised the keys at 17:00.
Credits come off when you open the request, not when the file comes back. Rejected jobs put them back. If you are unsure between Stage 1 and Stage 2, open Stage 1, write the parts, ask on that ticket. Faster than opening the wrong stage and waiting for a limp mode report from the yard.
After the file is ready you get the same cloud link you used on the way in, plus an email at each stage. Flashing it is your bay, your tool, your checksum habit. Keep the first dump. Someone will want stock back and they will not want to hear about a USB stick from 2019.
Circuit and motorsport only. A same-day file is still not a street ticket. Fill the ticket once. Then the clock can do what it is supposed to do.
