TCU launch control for workshops — what the file actually changes
Launch control is a gearbox conversation, not an engine map with a louder name. Send the TCU read. A DQ250 is not a DQ381.

People treat launch control like a Stage 1 extra. It lives in the TCU. The engine file can make more torque. The box decides whether first gear is allowed to see it, at what rpm the clutch holds, and whether the factory protection still slaps the launch down after two attempts. That is why a car can feel strong in third and lazy off the line.
On this desk TCU work is its own line: DSG, S-tronic, ZF, 9G. TCU base includes three revisions on the same ticket. Launch, torque limit, shift speed — write the sentence you actually want. ‘Make it launch’ is not a brief. ‘DQ381, stock clutch, 4Motion, hold around 3.500 on 98 pump’ is a brief.
Attach the gearbox read with the engine dump. Same cloud link is fine. Two files named final.bin is how a Monday becomes a Wednesday. Name them. BMW_320d_2018_EDC17.bin and DQ250_2018.bin. If you only have the engine read, say so. We do not invent a TCU file from an EDC17 dump.
Clutches and dual-mass flywheels finish conversations they started last winter. Extra launch rpm on a box that already shudders in second is not a map fault. Mileage belongs on the ticket. So does four-wheel drive, a cage, and whether this car sees a drag strip or a hillclimb.
Same-day is for stock Stage 1 on a complete engine ticket. A TCU brief that lands at 17:10 on a Friday with no box code is not that job. Credits leave when you open the request. Rejected work puts them back.
Circuit and motorsport only. A launch file is not a street ticket and it is not a warranty on a clutch. Keep the first TCU dump. When someone wants brochure behaviour back, that file is cheaper than a box on the bench.
